The Civil Guard arrested Alfonso Grau, the former Popular Party Deputy Mayor of Valencia, at his home in the city on Monday morning, Civil Guard spokesmen confirmed to The Spain Report.
Mr. Grau was arrested along with an unnamed businessman from a local company, Viajes Transvía Tours S.L., "on suspicion of bribery".
The homes of the two men were searched, officers visited the company's headquarters, and "a jeweller's is involved, but we're not exactly sure how yet", said one of the Civil Guard spokesmen.
The manager of the central offices of Transvía Tours in Valencia confirmed that the Civil Guard had turned up this morning looking for one of its directors, "Mr. Catalán", but would not specify which of the three Mr. Catalans listed as directors the police wished to speak to.
