Spain's Supreme Court ordered the arrest of former CUP spokeswoman Anna Gabriel on Wednesday, after she failed to appear before an investigating judge in Madrid to answer accusations of rebellion, sedition and the misuse of public funds related to the declaration of independence in Catalonia on October 27.

Judge Pablo Llarena said Ms. Gabriel, beyond not appearing, had not offered any legitimate explanation to the court for her non appearance.

The Public Prosecutor's Office petitioned the court for her arrest, along with an international arrest warrant, saying it was the second time she had failed to appear, and that according to media reports she is in Geneva (Switzerland).
