The Spanish Socialist Party (PSOE) has said the Home Secretary, Juan Ignacio Zoido, should sack Spain's traffic management boss, Gregorio Serrano, for the "atrocious mismanagement" of this weekend's snow chaos north-west of Madrid.

"To be able to turn up in Congress with a bit of credibility, Zoido should bring the dismissal of the director of traffic with him", said PSOE spokesman Óscar Puente, who is also the Mayor of Valladolid (Castilla y León).

The Socialist Party (85 seats in Congress) wants both the Home Secretary and the Public Works Minister to appear before parliament to explain the mess, which left thousands of drivers and passengers stranded in snow overnight on Saturday, many on a privately managed toll motorway, the AP-6.
